Children First has announced the appointment of new officers for its board of directors, which will include Longboat Key residents Jo Rutstein and Leslie Jones. Rutstein has been appointed incoming chairwoman of the board, and Jones will serve as vice chairwoman.

“It is an incredible board,” says Rutstein, who has been involved with the organization for two-and-a-half years and currently serves as vice chair of the board. “The organization is so important and so giving to the community that it is an honor to be a part of that.”

Children First serves more than 600 children each year by providing a variety of programs at its 12 locations throughout Sarasota County.

Their mission is to “strengthen children and families by improving the quality of their lives through a comprehensive approach to development, education, health and well-being.”
