After one year of dating, Longboat Key’s favorite tennis champ, Maria Sharapova, is engaged to L.A. Lakers shooting guard Sasha Vujacic. According to People magazine, Vujacic popped the question last week at his Manhattan Beach, Calif., home. But when it comes to tying the knot, we think Sharapova should look closer to home — Longboat Key. Some suggestions for the happy couple: Sharapova’s ring would surely sparkle during sunset at a Gulfside beach wedding. Or, she could tie the knot where she’s most at home: on one of Longboat Key’s many tennis courts. There, they could celebrate the perfect “court-ship.”
