For Arlene McKitrick, reaching 160 tournament wins on the golf course took a couple of swings. This summer, she started out two shots behind in the first round of the Mid Gulf Coast Amateur tournament but surged ahead of the leader by eight shots — only to have the final round canceled because of bad weather.
Later, McKitrick started off strong at the Florida State Senior Amateur tournament but lost by one shot after getting worn down by the heat and humidity. Then, a skin-cancer diagnosis and surgery took McKitrick off the course for four weeks. But the third time was the charm when McKitrick earned her latest victory.

McKitrick recently learned that she has more skin cancer and will need to stay off the course for another four weeks. But, she says after that she’ll be back on the course and ready to set new goals.
