+ Locals hit the courts at Sarasota Open
Some familiar names were on the roster for the opening weekend of the second men’s USTA/UTP Sarasota Open tournament. The tournament, which runs through Saturday, May 15, preps players for action at the French Open and draws some of the top names in tennis.

On Saturday, Ridley Seguso, the 16-year-old son of former tennis professionals Robert Seguso and Carling Bassett Seguso, matched up against Sweden’s Michael Ryderstedt while his family, including grandparents Sue Bassett Klauber and Dr. Murf Klauber and 4-week-old sister, Lennon, cheered him on. Seguso lost the match 6-0,6-1.

Also on Saturday, 16-year-old Morgan Mays, of Longboat Key, faced off against Sweden’s Andreas Silijestrom, losing 6-2,6-2.
