The installation of the Five Points Park surveillance camera was supposed to be complete this month, but an unexpected cost has caused a delay.
Lt. Jeff Karr, who is overseeing the project for the police department, said he was unaware that a $2,800 engineering study was required before the camera can be placed on a pole.
The Downtown Improvement District paid more than $13,000 for the wireless camera at Five Points Park, which is intended primarily to monitor transient crime.
Karr is trying to secure funds for the $2,800 fee.
