Bevy of blooms

Longboat Key is currently ablaze with color as spring buds, long dormant from the cool winter, burst into bloom.

Hardy geraniums have recovered quickly, and bright-red blooms can be spotted everywhere, along with some pretty pinks.

Clusters of impatiens, always eager to bloom, form colorful borders along lawns and around condominium signs.

In the 2000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive, there is a tree canopy of lavender and white blossoms still in full glory despite a recent night of heavy rain.

Be sure and take note mid-Key of a white wheelbarrow overflowing with brilliant pink petunias.

The entrance near Bayport Beach & Tennis Club has a field of multi-colored gaillardia and soft-hued grasses.

In the Village neighborhood, many individual planters are placed on stairs or along fences and are bursting with red-and-purple blooms.

Enjoy the rainbow of colors, and look soon for the outrageously beautiful golden tree, which will add even more beauty to the Key.
