Ed Zunz has qualified to run as a candidate for his wife’s District 5 commission seat.

Town Clerk Trish Granger informed Zunz in an email Monday that her office received notification from the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office that Zunz petitions are certified. Zunz is the third candidate to qualify for the March election. Current District 5 Commissioner Pat Zunz decided not to run for her third and final two-year term.

Country Club Shores resident Armando Linde qualified for the District 1 seat Oct. 14. District 1 Commissioner Lynn Larson is departing in March after serving three-consecutive two-year terms. Term limit requirements prevent Larson from funning for the term.

Vice Mayor and District 3 Commissioner Terry Gans qualified for his seat last week.

The other seat up for grabs in March is the at-large commission seat held by Irwin Pastor. Pastor hasn’t made his plans known yet for his seat.
