WEEKEND BEST BET: Festa Italiana

Lakewood Ranch Community Activities will host the second Festa Italiana 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Central Park amenity center, 12150 Forest Park Circle. 

This free event features Italian food, including bruschetta and shrimp pesto pasta, Italian beer, performances by the Tarantella Dancers and opera singer Joe Spinella, pony rides, crafts, magic shows and a dog costume contest. 

The dog costume contest will benefit the Humane Society of Lakewood Ranch. 

Free parking for the event is available at Gullet Elementary School, where a shuttle will transfer people to Central Park.
