Van fire slows traffic in east Sarasota County

Emergency officials have opened one lane of traffic on southbound I-75 near University Parkway following a complete shutdown of the corridor.

The Sarasota County Fire Department shut down southbound lanes of I-75 near University parkway at roughly 8 a.m. this morning, following a vehicle fire.

One lane has reopened, and firefighters have extinguished the blaze with no injuries, but traffic remained heavy after 8:30 a.m.
