Urfer Family Park nominated for 'America's Favorite Park'

When Urfer Family Park opened in 2009, more than 2,000 people showed up to enjoy its playgrounds, urban nature trails, outdoor fitness stations and the restored historic home that is now a visitor’s information center.

Recently awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, Urfer Family Park has also been nominated for “America’s Favorite Park.”

Sarasota County Parks and Recreation encourages residents and visitors to go online and vote for Urfer Family Park in Coca-Cola’s “America’s Favorite Park” contest.

The contest to find America’s Favorite Park is part of Coca-Cola’s Live Positively campaign. The contest, now in its second year, will award the winning entry a $100,000 grant. Second and third place winners will win grants of $50,000 and $25,000. Voters may cast their ballots as many times as they wish.
