Sarasota County deputies arrested 38-year-old Ed Rutherford on charges of murder Monday, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies located Rutherford, a resident of the 4400 block of Cocoa Ridge Circle, at his parents' home after sending out a bulletin with his vehicle information. Rutherford had allegedly called David Alessandrini's wife and said he found the 45-year-old man dead after 4 p.m. Monday.

Deputies collected evidence upon arresting Rutherford, according to the release.

Earlier: The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of 45-year-old Sarasota man as a homicide, according to a news release.

Deputies responded to a call from the 2100 block of Oak Terrace, which is just southeast of the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and U.S. 41, when a woman found her husband dead and front door ajar. Authorities have identified the victim as David Robert Alessandrini.

The Sheriff's Office has a person of interest in custody for questioning, and will be releasing more information this morning.
