Caleb Proffitt

Parents: Scott and Shana Proffitt

High School: Pine View School

Extracurricular Activities, community service and hobbies: Programming, robots (FRC Team 3627), Moody’s Mega Math Challenge (2015 honorable mention — one of the top 53 papers out of 1,128 nationally), reading, piano, computer science, discrete math, music (listening, not writing), video games (playing, making, modding, etc.), reading high fantasy novels

College plans: Vanderbilt University

Major: Computer science

Dream job: Running a software company

Proudest accomplishment: Taking the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 12 and performing well enough to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). Approximately 5% of students who take the AMC 12 qualify for the AIME, and Proffitt was the only student at his school to qualify.

Parents: Al and Kathy Brockett

High school: St. Stephen’s Episcopal School

Extracurricular activities, community service and hobbies: Varsity swimming (four years); varsity cheerleading for basketball (senior year); performed 100 hours of community service at the Humane Society of Manatee County; National Honor Society; Feeding America Club; French Club; Future Business Leaders of America Club.

College plans: University of Maryland

Major: Political science or pre-law

Dream job: Secretary of state

Proudest accomplishment: Overcoming shoulder injuries and making state competition in two events for swimming.
