Longboat Key Management Information Systems (MIS) Director Kathi Pletzke will retire Feb. 1, after 18 years with the town.

Kathi has been an asset to the Town over the past 18 years,” Town Manager Dave Bullock wrote in an email to the Longboat Key Town Commission. “Kathi is an exceptional problem solver and not afraid to tackle any problem. Kathi is a known innovator. I am especially appreciative of her work on fiscal transparency. Please join me in expressing our appreciation for her good work over the years and wishing her well in her next endeavor.”

Under Pletzke’s leadership, the town’s IT department won multiple awards, including the 2013-14 Solutions Award from the Public Technology Institute for the web management and e-government category for its fiscal transparency website tool. The Florida Local Government Information Systems Association also recognized software applications developed by the IT Department and the Fire Rescue Department with its “Best Application Serving a Public Organization’s Business Needs.”

Bullock has appointed Network Administrator Jason Keen to serve as acting director.
