And the Lady Mustangs certainly lived up to the hype at the Hagerty Open Sept. 11 at Seminole State College in Oviedo. Five Lady Mustangs finished in the top 10 in the Girls 5K Run. Olivia Ortiz won the event at 19:03.69, followed by teammate Kristin Zarrella at 19:09.58. Natalie Novak finished fourth at 19:44.64, and Devin McDermott sixth at 20:11.94. Ashley Platt finished eighth at 20:22.41.

The team scores 23 points and posted a team average of 19:42 — the lowest of any team in the state this season.
