Athletes swam, biked and ran Saturday, Aug 3, during the Siesta Beach Olympic and Sprint Triathlon.
About 400 people participated in the duathlon, 1-mile run, 12.4-mile bike and 3.1-mile run; Olympic Triathlon 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike, and 10-km run; and the Triathlon Sprint, 0.25-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike and 3.1-mile run.
Nathan Nevid came in first place overall for the Olympic triathlon with a swim time of 25:13; bike time of 1:03:26; and run time of 44:22. His overall event time was 2:14:22.
Oscar Corredor came in second place in the Olympic triathlon with a swim time of 26:16; bike time of 1:01:19; and run time of 44:36. His overall event time was 2:14:40.
Kostyantyn Surkov came in third place in the Olympic triathlon with a swim time of 29:19; bike time of 1:01:18; and run time of 42:55. His overall time of 2:16:21.
The top three winners for the duathlon were Jeff Lessie, who came in first with a time of 59:39; Pat Ryan in second place with a time of 59:54; and Hans Heinz in third place with a time of 1:02:12.
The top three winners for the Sprint Triathlon included Brice Van Elswyk, who came in first, with a time of 1:01:53; Patrick Hartmann came in second with a time of 1:03:03; and Sarasota resident Andrew Swanson who notched third-place with a time of 01:03:17.
