Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association
The Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association held its fourth Winter Tournament Series event April 27, at Bent Tree Country Club.

Thirteen-year-old Drew Angelo shot a 2-over-par 74 to earn medalist honors.

+ Blazers win district crown
The Sarasota Christian baseball team defeated the Manatee HEAT 4-2 to win the Class 2A-District 9 championship April 25.

Josh Yoder allowed three hits and struck out four in six innings to earn the win. Joey Shamp went 2-for-3. Ryan Wenger went 1-for-3 with a RBI.

The Blazers will return to action in the Class 2A-Region 3 quarterfinals April 30 at home versus Everglades City School.

+ ODA’s season ends in playoffs
The Out-of-Door Academy girls lacrosse team saw its season come to an end with a 13-10 loss April 22 to Tampa Catholic in the opening round of the playoffs.

With the loss, the Lady Thunder finished the season 12-2.

Kimmy Comito scored six goals and added two assists. Tess Siciliano had two goals. Taylor Albano and Adelaide Mahler each added a goal. Abby Bannar had 10 saves.

+ Former Sarasota Crew rower powers Nova Southeastern
Sarasota High alumna Courtney Berger powered Nova Southeastern’s varsity eight to a first-place finish at the 2014 Sunshine State Conference Championship April 25, at Nathan Benderson Park.

The Sharks won both the varsity four and eight events to total the most points possible, 20, en route to winning their third SSC Championship in four years.

Nova Southeastern has now won the most titles among SSC rowing teams with six.

Berger was named to the All-SSC Rowing Team in her final season on the water.

The senior will now prepare for the 2014 NCAA National DII Women’s Rowing Championships May 10.
