+ GSJGA presents awards
The Big Summer Golf Card and the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association recently presented the 2014 GSJGA Tournament awards to 16 of the area’s top junior golfers.

This year’s winners, ranging in age from 8 to 18, competed against 250 GSJGA members at 25 local GSJGA-sponsored tournaments.

Winners include:

Players of the Year
9-hole Division
• Girls 10 and Under — Sienna Cassella (8)
• Girls 11 and Over — Halie Keech (12)
• Boys 10 and Under — Aaron Setiawan (9)
• Boys 11 and Over — Oliver Warren (11)

18-hole Division
• Girls 12 and Under — Ashlyn Einwachter (13)
• Girls 13 to 15 — Alyssa Mercado (12)
• Girls 16 to 18 — Victoria Cangero (16)
• Boys 12 and Under — Matthew de Heus (11)
• Boys 13 to 15 — Joshua Perna (13)
• Boys 16 to 18 — Andrew Hammett (18)
• Girls Lowest Stroke Average (74.4) — Caitlin Cotterill (14)
• Boys Lowest Stroke Average (73.2) — Andrew Hammett (18)
• Patti Wadsworth Memorial Award — Courtney Cotterill (17)
• Ronald T. McClellan Sportsmanship Award — Sophia Warren (15)
• Hole-in-One Award — Isabella Stepanek (14)

+ Mustang swimmers capture district crown
The Lakewood Ranch High boys swim team scored 350 points to win the Class 3A-District 8 meet Oct. 23, at North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg.

Braden River scored 332 points to finish third.

Across the pool, the Lakewood girls scored 335 points to finish second.

Individual winners include:

Lakewood Ranch
• Boys 200-yard medley relay
• Boys 400 freestyle relay
• Luke Hanner (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly)
• Madison Jean (100 butterfly, 100 freestyle)
• Daniel Erlenmeyer (500 freestyle)
• Courtney Chapin (100 backstroke)

Braden River
• Ryan Walker (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle)
• Michael Troubeev (100 breaststroke)
• Boys 200 freestyle relay

Lakewood Ranch and Braden River will return to action in the Class 3A-Region 3 meet Oct. 31.
