SCF athletes score academic honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association recognized three State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota athletic teams were recognized for their academic achievements in 2011-12.

The Manatees women’s volleyball team (3.28 grade point average), women’s tennis team (3.36 GPA) and baseball team (3.07 GPA) all exceeded the minimum 3.0 team GPA required for the honor.

Five student-athletes were named NJCAA Athletes of Distinction. Volleyball player Sarah Geraldson earned 4.0 GPA during her two years at SCF, winning the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence. Softball player Chelsea Oglevie earned the Superior Academic Achievement Award with a 3.9 GPA. Baseball players Tyler Rocklein (3.67 GPA) and Jeff Dally (3.7 GPA) and volleyball player Tori Overmyer (3.63 GPA) won Exemplary Academic Achievement Awards.
