Flag Day at Patriot Plaza
Runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72. Celebrate the 239th birthday of the U.S. Flag with a concert by the Pops Orchestra of Bradenton and Sarasota presented by The Stars and Stripes Foundation. Bring a lawn chair or cushion. Admission is free.

Kids Summer Beach Runs
Starts at 5:30 p.m. at Siesta Key Beach, 948 Beach Road. The Kids' Summer Beach Runs are offered every week this summer. The one-mile runs start promptly at 6:30 p.m. A one-time registration fee of $1 lets children participate in beach runs for the entire summer. Each week will be themed with prizes for participants who dress up for the theme. The theme for the first week is “Team Spirit.” Visit parksonline.scgov.net.

Grief and Loss Issues
Runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Friendship Center in Sarasota. The Friendship Center for Aging Studies will offer “Grief and Loss Issues: A Biopsychosocial Perspective in Older Adults” and will take place Fridays June 10-17. The course will focus on the importance of identifying and helping older adults work through the various tasks of grief. The course fee is $299 and includes a light breakfast that will be provided.
