48th annual Rummage Sale for Missions 
Runs from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4150 S. Shade Ave. Support parishioners in their upcoming missions through your purchases at the rummage sale. Visit iTrinity.org. 

Friday, Jan. 22, to Sunday, Jan. 24
Sarasota Native American Indian Festival 
Runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd. Find authentic artwork, crafts, paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculptures, beadwork and leatherwork, along with Native American foods. Little Big Mountain and the Big Mountain dancers will perform throughout the weekend. Tickets are $8 for adults; $3 for children ages 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and under. Call 928-7892.

Saturday, Jan. 23 
Winterfest Arts and Craft Show
Runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at J.D. Hamel Park, Gulfstream Avenue. The show will feature fine arts-and-crafts exhibitors, along with food booths. Admission is free. Visit sunsetboulevardpromotions.com

Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan. 24
Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival 
Runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Selby Five Points Park, North Pineapple Avenue. The Sarasota Downtown Merchant's Association is organizing this inaugural event. Live performances will include rock ’n’roll, jazz, calypso and reggae. Admission is free. Visit srqseafoodfestival.com. 


Saturday, Jan. 23 
Gymanfu Ganu
Starts at 11 a.m. in the MacIntyre Room of The Glenridge of Palmer Ranch, 7333 Scotland Way. The Gulf Coast St. David’s Welsh Society will hold a “Gymanfa ganu”, an hour of singing Welsh hymns both in English and in Welsh. Pronunciation of Welsh lyrics will be taught.  It will be followed by the Welsh Society’s annual luncheon meeting. Admission to singing is free; lunch is $15. Reservations are required. 'How to be an Askable Parent'
Runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Goldie Feldman Academy, 1050 S. Tuttle Ave. The one-hour session will provide age-appropriate content designed to help parents gain useful skills, information and resources, so they are empowered to be successful in their roles. The sessions will be led by Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida educator Pat Wolfson. Admission is free. Call 552-2770. 


Thursday, Jan. 28 
Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation Bus Tour
Departs at 8:30 a.m. from the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail. Enjoy a special coach tour of the Tampa Theater and the Tampa Bay Hotel in Tampa's historic downtown district. Tickets are $85 for nonmembers and $75 for members. Lunch is included in the price. Call 953-8727. 


Friday, Jan.  29 
Junior League Legacy Luncheon
Starts at 11 a.m. at Michael’s On East, 1212 East Ave. The featured speaker is Jessica Fellowes, a foremost expert on the PBS television series "Downton Abbey." Fellowes will share the real-life inspirations behind uncle and scriptwriter Julian Fellow’s show. Tickets are $125. Visit jlsarasota.org.

Sunday, Jan. 24 
Redeemer Great Music Series
Starts at 5:15 p.m. at Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave. Church of the Redeemer presents Mark Kroll, harpsichordist with The Boston Symphony and Professor Emeritus, Boston University, in a three-part concert series.
