Roadwork updates for week of Oct. 23

NEW PROJECTS

US 41
Over North Creek
Maintenance — Project consists of placing rip-rap in the channel. Work will begin Oct. 31 and is expected to finish Jan. 28, 2012.

At Hospital Road
Maintenance — Intermittent southbound lane closure on U.S. 41 and Hospital Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Expect delays.


State Route 78
Over Coon Key Waterway
Maintenance — Project consists of placing rip-rap at various pier locations. Work will begin Oct. 31 and is expected to finish Jan. 28, 2012.

CONTINUING PROJECTS

Interstate 75
From north of North River Road to north of state Road 681.
Construction — Temporary nighttime lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Oct. 16 to Oct. 22. This project is anticipated for completion in the summer of 2012. U.S. 301
From Myrtle Street to DeSoto Road
Construction — Lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Oct. 16 to Oct. 21, in both directions at Myrtle Street, Northgate Boulevard, 47th Street and Desoto Road intersections. Entrances to businesses in the work zone are open and accessible. The contractor is Cone & Graham Inc. U.S. 41
Legacy Trail Overpass
Construction — Intermittent lane closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting today. Construction activities will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Closed to pedestrian traffic from Train Depot to Colonia Lane through September.The contractor is Zep Construction Inc. Over Roberts Bay
Maintenance — No major lane closures or any other major impacts to traffic.

State Route 789
At Ringling Bridge
Bridge maintenance project — There will be no lane closures. Maintenance will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November.

State Route 758
From U.S. 41 to Beneva Road
Maintenance — Intermittent eastbound lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Oct. 10 to Oct. 20. Expect possible delays

At School Avenue
Maintenance — Eastbound and center lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. starting today. Expect possible delays.

At Shade Avenue
Maintenance — Eastbound lane closure from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. today. Expect possible delays.

State Route 72
Replacement of the bridge over Myakka River
Construction — Construction within the boundaries of Myakka River State Park. Single lane closures and minor delays during daylight hours. No weekend work. The project completion is estimated for summer 2012. The contractor is Kelly Brothers Construction Inc.

At the Stickney Point Drawbridge
Maintenance — eastbound and westbound lan closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Oct. 23 to Oct. 27. Expect possible delays.

State Road 681
Over U.S. 41 
Bridge maintenance – Project expected to start soon. Lane closures once crews begin working.
