Hundreds of sod trucks loaded with paspalum grass will make their way to the island as rennovations continue at the Longboat Key Club.
The Key Club's general manager, Jeff Mayers, said plans to resurface the greens at the Harbourside will culminate in October, and that the Islandside golf course's has been renovated and will re-open Friday. The new grass is saltwater tolerant and drought resistent, used to enhance the quality of play year-round.
Mayers said irrigation systems that date back to the 1950s are being replaced at the Islandside Course this week as well.
Renovations at the Key Club are just a few of many new projects going on at the club.
