Police arrest man suspected of molestation

The Sarasota Police Department arrested a 62-year-old man Tuesday, June 25, for lewd lascivious molestation against a child between the ages of 7 and 8.

Investigators allege Vennie Del Singleton touched a young girl inappropriately various times from 2000 to 2002 at a withheld location in the city of Sarasota. Detectives listened to a recent call between Singleton and the victim in which Singleton admitted to the incidents.

Singleton, who is listed as a dishwasher at the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center, is being held without bail in the Sarasota County Jail, according to an arrest report.
