John Woodward Jr., 92, of Coon Key, died Jan. 7.
Mr. Woodward graduated from Virginia Military Institute and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, primarily in the South Pacific.
Upon returning to civilian life, he joined his father in the family business, the John E. Woodward Insurance Agency, in Richmond, Va. He worked there until his retirement in the early 1980s. In 1987, he moved to Sarasota, where he loved visiting the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, especially its circus display. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf and sailing. He was passionate about nutrition.
Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by his brother, Walter.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth, Carol and John; and two grandchildren.
