+ Van aids University of South Florida hospitality program
The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee received a donation with four wheels April 11 — a 12-passenger van donated by Burton “Skip” Sack.

The local businessman donated the vehicle to USF’s College of Hospitality and Technology Leadership, on Lakewood Ranch Main Street, in hopes that the school would use the vehicle for educational programs and community outreach initiatives.

The van will provide transportation for students to the lab in upcoming semesters, as well as for homeless veterans who will partner with USF students through a food-preparation certificate program.

Students will teach the veterans how to prepare meals so the veterans can secure jobs in the restaurant industry.
