Longboat Pass drawbridge closures

The Longboat Pass Bridge at the north end of the Key will have intermittent lane closures for maintenance work beginning Monday, June 1.

Northbound and southbound lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1, June 2, June 4, June 11, June 12 and June 16.

Finance Department to shift

The Longboat Key Town Commission agreed with a request from Town Manager Dave Bullock at its May 18 regular workshop to fund a purchasing manager position and part-time finance position to perform non-purchasing functions. The commission will discuss a budget transfer of $19,944 at its June 2 regular meeting to supplement wages and benefits needed for the positions. The change will occur because the department is handling a high volume of purchasing matters and overseeing many contracts for upcoming projects, Bullock said.

Meetings canceled

Per tradition, the Longboat Key Town Commission has approved the cancellation of its July and August workshops and its August meeting. Commissioners also authorized Town Manager Dave Bullock to take emergency action over the summer in the event of an emergency at a time when not enough commissioners are on the island for an emergency meeting.
