New College Campus Police will collect unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27 as part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Sarasota and Bradenton community members are encouraged to drop off unwanted medications 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the campus police station, 501 College Drive.

Officers will dispose of the medication and participation is anonymous. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and state and local law enforcement collaborated together for National Take-Back Day. Unused prescription medication can be a source of drug misuse and abuse as well as an environmental hazard. Law enforcement agencies collected 2 million pounds of prescription drugs in the past five Take-Back events.
