Mustangs, Pirates advance to district semis

Delaney Riggins scored Lakewood Ranch’s lone goal as the host Lady Mustangs defeated Port Charlotte 1-0 in a Class 4A-District 11 quarterfinal Jan. 17.

The second-seeded Lady Mustangs will play host to third-seeded Braden River at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 in a district semifinal. Lakewood defeated Braden River 3-0 the first time the two teams met and tied the Lady Pirates 2-2 in their second meeting earlier this month.

The Lady Pirates blanked Charlotte 3-0 Jan. 17 to advance to the district semifinals.

Kayla Gray scored a pair of goals to lead the way for Braden River.
