Manatee wins Southeast Regional crown

The Manatee Cal Ripken 10U baseball team went 5-1 to win the 2015 Babe Ruth Southeast Regional Tournament July 22 through July 25, in Glen Allen, Va.

The Manatee Cal Ripken 10U baseball team went 5-1 to win the 2015 Babe Ruth Southeast Regional Tournament July 22 through July 25, in Glen Allen, Va. 

Manatee edged past host Glen Allen 10-8 to open the tournament. The team then went on to beat Putnam County 5-1 before falling to West Raleigh 14-1. Manatee bounced back with a 12-0 victory versus Mt. Pleasant to finish 3-1 in the American division. 

In the semifinals, Manatee cruised to a 17-0 victory versus Atlantic Beach to earn a spot in the championship game. 

In the championship game, Manatee held off Glen Allen 1-0 to win the southeast regional title. 

As the southeast regional champion, Manatee will now advance to the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series, which begins Aug. 8, in Jonesboro, Ark.
