After sunsetting school impact fees in 2009, the Manatee County School District is ready to again charge builders fees on new development.

The school board in November approved bringing back impact fees, and tomorrow will receive a decision on how much builders will be charged to build in Manatee County.

At the Manatee County Land Use meeting at 9:15 a.m. Jan. 7, county commissioners will decide whether to approve the school board's recommended increase by 50%, 75% and 100% of the maximum recommended impact fee amount.

In 2016, the year when 50% of the maximum rate increase would take effect, a single-family detached home would accrue a $3,237.50 fee; a duplex would cost developers $3,424; a manufactured home would cost $739 and a multi-family building would cost $1,762.50.

The study, which was conducted by TischlerBise, will be presented to commissioners tomorrow before final approval.

The meeting is open to the public and the agenda is available here.
