A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for burglarizing a home in Lakewood Ranch.

A company hired to put up Christmas lights had employees working on the home at the 8000 block of Royal Birkdale Circle. Workers saw a fellow employee break into the residence through a window and steal a computer and prescription pills.

"This person, as I understand it, was on a crew that was hired by the homeowners to place Christmas lights in and on their home," said Dick Moran,  Lakewood Ranch Community Community CDD 2 board member and chairman of the Country Club Edgewater Village Association. "He was hired off the street yesterday."

The workers confronted the man about it and he fled on foot.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the man, Oden C. Deloach III, a repeat offender, a short time later and arrested him.
