A contract to provide LED lights for Siesta Key Village crosswalks will soon be sent out to bid, according to a memo draft from Sarasota County Public Works Director Jim Harriott.

Siesta Key Village Maintenance Corp. officials approved wattage and placement specifications presented by a Sarasota-based lighting firm July 30, in front of Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar. The county is seeking 14 bollards for seven Village crosswalks, which are expected to cost $31,060 for materials and installation.

Staff will recommend to Sarasota County commissioners that the lights be placed on the sides of the crosswalks angled inward, to avoid conflict with Americans With Disabilities Act requirements.
