Lakewood Ranch man dies in University Parkway auto accident

Wallace P. Hough, 70, died Thursday night after losing control of his 2016 Chrysler van while driving on University Parkway near Miramar Way.

A Florida Highway Patrol report said the van veered off the roadway into a raised median, where it struck a tree about 10:13 p.m. Hough was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Janet L. Hough, 70, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The FHP report said the accident was not alcohol related.
