The Manatee County School District’s Citizens Advisory Committee is conducting a series of meetings at schools to gather input about what the district’s budget priorities should be for 2014-15.
At each meeting, including one at 6 p.m. tonight at Lakewood Ranch High School, community members will be given a survey, both to address the 2014-15 budget and the district’s five-year strategic plan.
Each meeting will include food, homework help, tutoring and other activities.
The last meeting will occur Nov. 21, at Lincoln Middle School.
Also tonight, at its 5:45 p.m. meeting at 215 Manatee Ave. W., the Manatee County School Board will vote on whether to designate a 10-acre undeveloped parcel it owns at Braden River High School as surplus property it intends to sell.
A new appraisal of the property, located at the northeast intersection of Caruso Road and State Road 70, is in process.
Money accrued from the sale would go to reserves.
