+ Kiwanian of the Year unveils surprise of his own
It was no surprise that Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key member Bill Sceva was to be honored as Kiwanian of the Year at the March 16 breakfast meeting. He has been a member of the club since 1987, edits the weekly newsletter and has been active in the various club projects. A retired professor, he has a special interest in the club’s scholarship program. In remarks after he was presented with a digital photo frame, Sceva had his own surprise for the club. He made a $1,000 donation to the scholarship fund. And Sceva’s longtime friend, Edith Barr Dunn, had her own surprise for him. Calling him a “diamond, a rare jewel,” she gave him a sparkling “diamond” paperweight.
