The Johnson Estate at 5965 Gulf of Mexico Drive sold Jan. 15 for $5.3 million, according to Manatee County property records.

Longboat Key residents Bill and Mary Lou Johnson sold the 10,087-square-foot Gulfside home to Joseph Sena, of Belleair Beach.

Property records show that the Johnsons purchased the property for $4.25 million in April 2001 and demolished the previous residence in 2003.

The existing home was completed in 2007 and has seven bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, freshwater pool with an underwater tables and benches, two-story library modeled after the Biltmore Estate library and double mahogany staircase.

The home was originally listed for $13 million in October 2009 and was taken off the market and relisted multiple times since then, according to Realtor.com. The most recent listing price was $7.5 million.

The website lists Barbara Ackerman, of Longboat Key’s Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, as both the listing agent and buyer’s agent.
