Holiday Beach Resort will be demolished next week

The old Holiday Beach Resort will be demolished next week in preparation for construction of the planned 11-unit Infinity condominium.

Demolition is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 1.

During the three days prior to demolition, Longboat Key Fire Rescue will use the site for drills.

The resort was built in 1956 and is located at 4765 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The Bleu Claire condominium was originally planned for the site in 2007 but was put on hold because of the economic downturn.

In March, Michael Saunders & Co. unveiled the Infinity project, consisting of the same basic footprint as Bleu Claire with an updated design.

The project consists of nine three-to-four bedroom units and two penthouse units ranging from $2,825,000 to $4.95 million.

Nell Leffel, of Michael Saunders & Co.’s New Homes & Condominium Division, is the sales associate for the project.

Sarasota architect Mark Sultana, of DSDG Architects, is the architect. Crossgate Partners LLC, of Atlanta, is the developer.
