Lennar Homes received unanimous approval from the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners Thursday to eliminate plans for a marina from Heritage Harbour at a Land Use meeting in downtown Bradenton.

Lennar intends to move forward with changes to its River Strand project, within Heritage Harbour, but told commissioners that a marina cannot be economically supported within the community. In place of the marina will sit 100 new townhomes with boat docks for those residences.

The Manatee County Planning Commission endorsed the proposed changed during its regular meeting last month.

Additionally, Lennar plans to shift the construction of about 100 homes from the northern portion of the project to south of Port Harbour Parkway. Port Harbour Parkway will eventually be realigned as well.

The number of previously-approved homes does not change though.
