Fire district honors employees

The East Manatee Fire Rescue District held its annual awards and recognition program Feb. 9, during the Board of Fire Commissioners' meeting.

Engineer Chris Gailbraith and Lts. Kyle Taylor and Luke Fay were honored as the 2014 co-fire officers of the year.

Other awards granted were:

• Five years of service: Firefighter Derek LaPlante;

• 10 years of service: bookkeeper Pam Brown; firefighters Steven Baker, Rob Day, Todd DePatie, Daniel Lane, David Manning and Douglas Spriggs; Lt. Casey Lambert; and Commissioner Richard Jacobs;

• 15 years of service: Firefighter Jason Morrow and Lt. Chad Gamble;

• 20 years of service: Inspector CeCe Pritchard;

• 25 years of service: Dep. Chief George Ellington;

• Military Service Award: Firefighter Stephen Beecher; and

• Certificates of recognition: Firefighters Bobby Hayes, Steven Beecher, Mike Hamilton and Brian Mathey; and Lts. Casey Lambert and Bob Mikulski.
