The Florida Athletic Coaches Association recently announced its girls basketball player of the year and coach of the year awards for the 2015-16 season, as voted on by area coaches. 

District 16 Player of the Year:

7A — LaDazhia Williams, Lakewood Ranch 

8A — Lindsay Edwards, Riverview 

District 16 Coach of the Year 

2A — Scott Lantz, Sarasota Christian 

4A — Robert Beckmann, Sarasota Military Academy 

5A — Hollie Nelson, Booker 

7A — Tina Hadley, Lakewood Ranch 

8A — Carl Williams, Riverview
