Downed power lines close Fruitville Road

The Sarasota County Sheriff's office has closed all lanes of Fruitville Road, just east of Interstate 75 due to a single-car wreck about 4 p.m. on Wednesday that caused live power lines to cross the roadway.

The driver in the car didn't suffer any injuries and had no passengers. No other information was available at this time.

Fruitville Road traffic is being redirected and the northbound Fruitville Road off-ramp from Interstate 75 is closed.

A Sheriff's Office spokesman said no estimate has been given when the road will be reopened.
