Manatee County now is accepting applications for the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Grant, which offers financial aid to individuals to senior citizens facing a financial hardship.

Through a state grant, the county may approve up to $600 in assistance twice annually for a household.
Eligible applicants must be part of a household with at least one person 60 years old or older in the home; have a documented heating or cooling emergency, such as a past-due bill amount or final notice of disconnection of service; and earn a gross household income equal to or less than 150% of the federal poverty guidelines, which would be about $16,500 annually for a one-person household income, or $22,500 for a two-person home.

For more information, visit the Aging Services section of Manatee County’s website, mymanatee.org, or call Tracie Adams at 749-3030.
