LOCKING HORNS

6 p.m. — 4800 block of North Tamiami Trail

Dispute/Fight: An employee at a hotel reported that a customer was causing a disturbance. The employee said the lock to the man’s room wasn’t working, and the issue couldn’t be fixed until after the weekend. The employee informed the man of the issue and offered to refund his money so he could find somewhere else to stay. The employee said the man would not leave, and began screaming and insisting he needed to get the door fixed right away. When the employee said he was going to call the police, the man left the area, leaving the belongings in the unlocked room. The employee wanted the incident documented so he would not be responsible for the fate of the man’s property.

Forgery: A man entered a financial services store and attempted to cash a check for $479.67. Two tellers at the store, who had both undergone training to recognize counterfeit checks, immediately identified the check as a forgery. MAKING A MESS

3 a.m. — 1500 block of Main Street

Burglary — Vehicle/Vessel: A woman reported that, while she was at work, she found that the contents of her glove box and center console had been emptied onto the passenger’s floorboard. Because the car was full of paperwork and other items, she could not tell if anything was missing. She said that, if she discovered anything missing later, she would contact officers again.

GO WITH THE FLOW

11:55 a.m. — 1900 block of 32nd Street.

Dispute/Fight: A woman reported that a man went onto her property, turned on the water on the side of her house to get a drink and left the water running. When officers arrived, the man was across the street. They advised him to stay off of the woman’s property in the future.
