STONE’S THROW
10:20 a.m. — 3300 block of North Tamiami Trail
Mischief: A woman reported that two children were throwing rocks in the road, and one of them hit her car. She said there was no damage, but she wanted someone to talk to the boys. The boys said they were throwing rocks across traffic trying to hit the trees on the other side. They said they did not mean to hit any cars. An officer told the boys they could not throw rocks around traffic, and said they could have damaged a car or injured someone. Both boys said they were sorry for the incident. Officers walked the boys to their home.

NOT FOR RENT
4:16 p.m. — 5000 block of Brywill Circle
Civil disturbance: A group of five showed up at a woman’s house and said they had arranged to rent it online. The group had pictures of the woman’s house, but she had not offered her house for rent online. Officers spoke to the would-be tenants about the rental listing.

BLOCKING YOUR MOVE
8:05 p.m. — 2500 block of Tenth Street
Dispute: A woman said she was trying to move out of her apartment, but her roommate had locked the door and would not let her get to her belongings. The woman said she got into an argument with her roommate and just wanted to leave. The roommate said he let the woman stay in the apartment for the past two weeks, but she had not paid rent and he wanted her to leave. He said the woman had packed some of his property with her belongings, and he wanted them back. The woman agreed to return them, and the man agreed to let her get her things.

SMOKING IN THE GIRLS’ ROOM
10:54 p.m. — 900 block of John Ringling Causeway
Property damage: A man was fishing when he saw three men kick in the door to the nearby women’s bathroom and go inside. After receiving a report, officers walked to the bathroom and found it was locked from the inside. The officers smelled burning marijuana coming from the restroom. The man who called police told officers the three men were still inside. As the officers walked back to the restroom area, the three men opened the door and started to walk out. Officers told the men to get on the ground. One of them was holding a half-smoked marijuana cigarette. Two of the men admitted to kicking in the door and locking themselves inside so they could smoke.
