NAME GAME
9:30 p.m. — 2800 block of Novus Street
Suspicion: A couple reported they found a man’s identification and several credit cards. The name on the cards matched the name of another man whose mail had been sent to their house over the past five years, though the middle initial was different. An officer found the address of the man to whom the ID and credit cards belonged. He said the items discovered were his — his car had been broken into, and he canceled the missing cards. He also said the mail the couple received was not his.

Sept. 1

LOCKING HORNS
9:30 a.m. — 2700 block of North Osprey Avenue
Dispute: A woman was upset because her landlord recently put locks on the common bathroom doors. She said she has been going to the bathroom outside, on the lawn, because the landlord would not give her a key. The landlord said the woman does not pay rent for that apartment, and is not supposed to be there. The apartment belongs to the woman’s boyfriend, who is in jail, but she has been staying there for two years. Officers told the landlord this is a civil matter, and he needs to formally evict the woman if he does not want her there. The landlord agreed to let the woman into the restroom.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
10 p.m. — 300 block of North Pompano Avenue
Suspicion: A man reported that his neighbor’s car may have been improperly entered. The neighbor told the man he believed someone went into his vehicle, because the papers in the glove box had been taken out and put onto the passenger’s seat. Nothing had been taken from the vehicle, and the neighbor did not want to make a report. The man wanted the incident documented, so he contacted the police. Efforts to contact the neighbor were unsuccessful, and the man said the neighbor had moved the car into the garage.

Sept. 3

DRUG STORE
5 p.m. — 500 block of North Beneva Road
Lost/Found Property: An officer responded to a report that a small bag of marijuana had been found inside a department store. The manager at the store told the officer that a person in the store had found the marijuana and turned it into him. The officer took the property into the police department to be destroyed.
