April 3
Moving day
9:20 a.m. — 700 block of Tarawitt Drive
. Parking. A caller reported a travel trailer was parked at a neighboring residence. The resident’s handyman said the resident is aware of the town’s ordinance limiting trailers to five days in a 30-day period and that the resident planned
to move it later that day.

April 4
Tumbling timber
9:51 a.m. — 6500 block of GMD
. Property Damage. A man drove his pickup truck over a landscape timber, causing it to fall apart. The driver apologized and said he would fix or replace the timber.

Things are looking up
11:56 a.m. — Bradenton Beach. Public Service. Police transported a mechanic to the Cortez Bridge after it became stuck in the “up” position. The mechanic fixed it, and the bridge re-opened.

April 5
Driving: Not a contact sport
1:06 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD.
Disturbance. Two men flagged down police to report a driver almost hit their vehicle. Police caught up to the driver, who said the other motorist was purposely braking hard to incite him. Police told everyone to call police if they have issues on the road and not to make contact with other drivers.

Shattering shot
4:25 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD. Property Damage. A man’s car window shattered after a golf ball struck it. The golfer said he had taken a bad swing.

Breaking point
6:43 p.m. — Bradenton Beach. Assist Other Agency. A teenager who was walking with a friend began swinging on a decorative lamp post, causing it to break into several pieces. A neighbor confronted both teens when they tried to walk away. Longboat police handled the complaint because Bradenton Beach police were investigating a crash.

April 6
Facebook find
3:10 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD.
Property Found. A man found the wallet of a Minnesota man at a Sarasota fast-food restaurant. Police found the man through Facebook, and his wife retrieved the wallet.

Almost quiet time
10:27 p.m. — 4100 block of GMD. Disturbance. Police determined a wedding party was the source of loud music a caller reported. A man agreed to lower the music and have it turned off by 11 p.m.

Tone down the celebration
11:03 p.m. — 3000 block of Grand Bay Blvd. Disturbance. A caller reported hearing noise from the road that turned out to be live music for a wedding reception. A woman at the banquet facility said she would keep the doors closed and the music down.

April 7
Chair overboard
8:50 a.m. — Off the Key
. Property Found. Police found an orange-and-blue bean-bag chair floating in the water and transported it to the station.

Rule of engagement: No fireworks
8:28 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road. Fireworks. Police responded to a report of fireworks being discharged on the beach. The fireworks were part of an engagement party and had stopped by the time police arrived.

April 8
Wakeup call
1:20 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway.
Public Service. A man who was asleep behind the wheel of his car told police he was tired and pulled into a parking lot. The man admitted to drinking earlier. Police called the man’s parents, who picked up their son and his vehicle.

Share the road
1:46 p.m. — 1900 block of GMD. Bicycle. A bicyclist said a motorist passed by her, almost made her fall, honked the horn and yelled, “You don’t belong on the road.” The bicyclist wrote down the driver’s license plate number. Police called the driver and explained traffic laws related to bicyclists.
