Jan. 1
The party’s over

1:58 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Rescue. A drunken woman was standing near a hotel’s closed bar and refused a security guard’s offer to help. She started leaning against the railing, then fell and struck her head on the concrete, knocking herself unconscious. Firefighter/paramedics transported her to the hospital. Police notified the woman’s brother in Alabama.

Time to hitch a ride
1:29 p.m. — 3100 block of GMD. Traffic. A woman whose driver’s license was suspended said she received a valid license at a hearing but said she left her license at home. Records show her license is revoked for 18 months. Police gave her a citation to appear in court and released the vehicle to a licensed passenger.

Jan. 2
Driving range practice

10:08 a.m. — 300 block of Longboat Club Road. Injury. A man was driving a golf cart and accidentally struck a parked golf cart, causing his female passenger to fall out of the cart and strike her head. The crash also caused the woman in the parked golf cart to bump her knee. Firefighter/paramedics transported the woman who hit her head to a hospital. Golf course staffers gave ice to the woman who hit her knee.

Getaway cart
1:29 p.m. — 1100 block of GMD. Property Damage. A condo owner’s adult son drove a golf cart that belongs to the complex to the property next door, leaving tire tracks on the pool deck of the neighboring property. Either the man’s mother or the complex from which he borrowed the cart will pay for the costs of the pool deck cleaning.

Open access

11:57 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Security Check. A woman returned to her rental unit and found the door open and all the lights on inside. The property’s key holder said the cleaners probably left the door open or the wind blew it open.

Bill of rights

4:18 p.m. — 700 block of Spanish Drive N. Fraud. A woman received a phone call from someone who said they represented a company called Bill Me Later. The caller said someone opened an account in the woman’s name and charged $971.41 worth of merchandise to the account. The woman’s identity-theft protection company confirmed that it will investigate the account and that Bill Me Later is a legitimate business.

Crash course

10:39 a.m. — 600 block of Marbury Lane. Public Service. A woman said a crane parked near her home was in unsafe condition and could crash into her house. Police determined the crane did not appear to be unsafe and left a voicemail for its owner.

Jan. 6
No hazard here

11:27 a.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Boat. A man said an anchored boat might pose a threat at high tide. Police did not find any safety hazards.

Get moving
5:27 p.m. — 500 block of Ranger Lane. Suspicious Vehicle. The operator of a reported suspicious vehicle said he was waiting for a coworker to begin a job moving furniture at a residence in a half-hour.

Hitting the roof
7:38 p.m. — 2200 block of Harbour Court Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A man heard noises coming from his home that sounded like someone was walking on his roof. Police noticed that heavy winds were blowing the awning and its framework against the roof. The man plans to have his awning replaced.

Jan. 7
No parking

10:37 a.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road. Parking. A woman complained that a contractor’s vehicle parked in a lot near her home was not supposed to be parked there. Police did not receive an immediate answer when they called the property owner to verify the contractor had permission to park there.

Give me a ring
12:39 p.m. — 4900 block of GMD. Lost/Missing Property. A man reported that his wedding band had slipped off his finger. Police suggested he check back later to determine whether it was found.
