Information Only: The complainant said he received a letter from a company telling him his personal information was possibly taken electronically from a doctors office in Sarasota County. He has now hired a company to watch his credit/personal information and that company is requesting a police report for them to watch his activity electronically. The deputy told the complainant he should present the letter he has to the company because the report is not an investigative report. At this time, nothing suspicious has occurred with his accounts.

Unarmed Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling: The subject entered the residence through an unlocked door. While inside, the suspect(s) stole $5,000 of sterling silver flatware. No evidence was obtained at the scene.

University Parkway

Aug. 20
2800 block of University Parkway
Petit Theft First Degree: The complainant arrived for work at the business and left his bicycle, unlocked, at the bike rack at the southeast corner of the store. Upon leaving work, he discovered his bicycle was missing. Video surveillance showed a white male walking away with the bicycle at 10:53 a.m. The video surveillance was not immediately available. The victim stated he recognized the man in the video as a local homeless person who often comes into the store.

Fraudulent Lease of Personal Property: The reporting party brought a failure-to-return packet in for the suspect. The subject had signed the rental-purchase agreement with the business March 1, but stopped making payments April 15. The reporting party submitted copies of the demand-for-return of property letter, certified mail receipt and the required notice in the contract for failing to return the property.

State Road 64

Petit/Grand Theft: The deputy responded to the scene in reference to a female shoplifter. Once the deputy met with the store’s loss prevention employee, he obtained a sworn affidavit, a Xerox copy of the receipt and a photo of the stolen merchandise. The employee said he saw the female select a dog leash and makeup, then proceed to the housewares department, where she concealed the items in her person. She then went to the front registers, where she paid for the items in her cart, but not in her purse. The merchandise was recovered outside. It was valued at $17.42. The female was issued a trespass warning.
