Battery: A woman said her son shoved her during an argument and slapped her cellphone out of her hands.

Deacons Place

April 28
1:32 p.m. — 12700 block of Deacons Place
Violation of Domestic Injunction: A man violated a domestic injunction a woman had against him by sending a video of himself lip-syncing “Stay With Me” while he was naked with a cheetah print towel around his neck.

Lakewood Ranch Boulevard

April 28
7:37 p.m. — 5800 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Counterfeit Bill: A man reported an unknown person used counterfeit $50 bills to purchase items at a store.

April 30
8:10 a.m. — 5500 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Information Only: A high school teacher was given a rap CD made by a student with lyrics about obtaining a gun and shooting people at a school. The teachers turned the CD over to the principal, who called police. The student said he has no intentions of hurting anyone and that he raps about the way he and other kids feel about being talked about and pushed around in school and life. The boy’s mother said she is aware of her son’s music and understands why the lyric caused concern but said he has no access to weapons and is a controlled kid who doesn’t go out and is busy making music.

55th Avenue East

April 30
9:54 a.m. — 7200 block of 55th Avenue East
Petit Theft: A man left his wife’s prescribed medication in a shopping cart while he had his back turned. He called the grocery store where the prescription was filled to see if he might have dropped it and someone turned it in to no avail.

Desoto Woods Drive

May 1
2:07 p.m. — 8000 block of Desoto Woods Drive
Petit/Grand Theft: A man reported that an unknown person(s) stole property from him and his parents at his parents’ home. He suspects home health care employees are responsible.

Faith Circle East

May 3
7:53 p.m. — 1100 block of Faith Circle East
Burglary/Unoccupied Conveyance: A man said an unknown person entered his vehicle and stole a variety of high-end stage microphones and cash. Police did not observe forced entry. The man could not remember whether he left the vehicle unsecured.

53rd Avenue East

May 3
12:09 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Avenue East
Domestic Disturbance: A woman and her boyfriend got into an argument while they were in her vehicle. She stopped the car and told him to get out, and he walked home but still had her phone. The woman also had a bag that belonged to her boyfriend. The woman wanted police to follow her to his house because she was afraid they would start fighting again. Police followed her to the man’s house, where they exchanged property.

56th Terrace East

May 7
7:39 a.m. — 4600 block of 56th Terrace East
Domestic Disturbance: A woman saw a small plastic bag with an unknown green leafy substance in her 21-year-old son’s room and demanded to know whether he was using drugs. The baggie was never relocated, but her son denied he was in possession of anything illegal and refused to allow police to search his room. Police advised the woman about the eviction process.
