LAKEWOOD RANCH — Nearly 200 classic cars will rumble onto Lakewood Ranch Main Street this weekend for a special car show benefiting military servicemen.

Ed’s Tavern restaurant will present its third annual classic car show from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 27, on Main Street, outside the restaurant, 10719 Rodeo Drive, Lakewood Ranch. Lance’s Cruising To the Hop Car Shows is hosting the event.

“It’s a great family event,” Breiner said, adding there’s no entrance fee. “It doesn’t cost you anything to look. (The cars) are really cool.”

This year’s event, which will include music from the 1950s and 1960s, door prizes, 50/50 and special drawings and more, will benefit local VFW Post 12055 and Manasota Operation Troop Support, better known as MOTS.

Although MOTS also will be on hand to raise money and awareness for veterans causes, the organization also will be collecting items to send to soldiers overseas. Event-goers also will have a chance to write letters to soldiers at MOTS’ booth, as well, Breiner said.

Although there will be no food or beer sold on the street as part of car show festivities, Lakewood Ranch Main Street restaurants will be open to serve visitors, Breiner said.

This is the third year Ed’s Tavern has hosted a classic car show benefiting veterans.
